Logistical hotspot

As a multimodal distribution hub, Deventer is ideally situated between the Randstad and the Ruhr area on the one side, and Scandinavia and Southern Europe on the other.

Rail-, motor- and waterways

It is strategically located alongside the A1 motorway and nearby the A50 motorway. In addition, its port has an impressive handling capacity, can accommodate water-bound companies and industries and offers excellent logistical services. Last but not least, Deventer offers direct railroad connections to Amsterdam and Berlin as well as many other major cities in the Netherlands.

A1 Business Park

Located only steps away from the river IJssel and the port lies the A1 Business Park. With its own access road leading directly to the A1 motorway, the A1 Business Park is connected to one of Europe’s main transport routes, linking Amsterdam to Berlin. It covers an area of 129 hectares, 40% of which are waterways and green areas. Instead of relying on natural gas as a source of energy, it uses a series of designated wind turbines to generate electricity.

Truckpoint Deventer

The A1 Business Park is also home to A1 Truckpoint Deventer, which covers an area of almost 3 hectares and offers guarded parking and a full range of facilities for truckers, from sanitary to a petrol station. Feasibility studies are currently being conducted for the construction of a hydrogen refuelling station in the business park. The Truckpoint site is considered an ideal location by the Dutch Ministry of Waterways and Public Works for  creating more long-term parking facilities along the A1.

Top working locations

The A1 Business Park and the Port of Deventer are both part of the Cleantech Region. In 2017, this region ranked no. 20 on the list of logistical hotspots in the Netherlands. The A1 Business Park Deventer and the Deventer Open Innovation Centre, situated along the river IJssel on the AKZO premises, were recently designated as top working locations by the Province of Overijssel.
